There are many outdoor pursuits where it is very useful, if not essential, to have an accurate guide to the predicted weather. The Suunto Core Wrist-Top Computer Watchcan help the user to become aware of an approaching storm or similar bad weather so that appropriate action can be taken. For example, the Storm Alarm feature can sense a change in air pressure and will sound an alarm and flash a warning light, thus giving the wearer an indication of a likely storm.
Similarly, the built-in altimeter will show how high you’ve climbed or descended shows how much you’ve climbed or descended, recording the details of the climb for future reference. The altimeter is accurate to within 30,000 feet and is a valuable instrument for the mountaineer, skier or for general travel in the wilderness.
In addition the Suunto Core has a digital thermometer, weather trend indicator and a digital compass built-in, all providing vital information for the outdoor enthusiast.
Even if you’re not out in the open but simply wanting to plan an outdoor activity, the Suunto Core can be a useful guide to the probable weather. There were extensive reviews for the Suunto Core watch, most of them being very favorable towards the product. For a watch of this type the accuracy of the information it provides is paramount and the Suunto was said to be very good in this respect. All of the functions were clear and easy to access. The display, which is silver/grey letters/numbers on a black background, was considered okay but not as good as some rivals which have black letters on a white background. The display was considered to be difficult to read in dim light although the background light helps to make it better. Another slight gripe was that the strap of the Suunto Core looked a little cheap and not in keeping with the rest of the watch.
Another feature which most people liked was the fact that the watch is larger than most. This helps to provide a feeling of security and, of course, makes it easier to read the various pieces of information.
On the negative side a few reviews were from people who had one or more of the functions stop working because the buttons that activated them would not work. Another problem that one reviewer mentioned was that the watch was not waterproof as said in the specifications.
The Suunto Core is a very well-specified outdoors watch and has been given top ratings by a large number of users. Some people have reported having problems but overall the watch seems to be well-made and capable of giving accurate and useful information.
